Culebra Cigars was recently opened in May of 2019 adjacent to the Ontario Mills Mall in Ontario, California. Proprietor Robert O’Neill has a very large lounge in addition to his well-stocked humidor. The humidor is a good size and stocked with a varied selection of the big names in the game, including My Father, Partagas, Arturo Fuente, and more.
The morning I popped in they had recently opened for the day and already had a couple of regulars who were enjoying a stick in their very large and comfortable lounge area. Culebra has ample seating for many dozens of smokers and very supple leather chairs that seem to swallow you whole. They also have one of the more powerful ventilation systems I have come across outside of a casino. This is huge plus as there was no haze whatsoever hanging in the air despite the regulars being busy puffing away. Cutters and lighters are liberally laid out around the lounge. Non-alcoholic beverages are available for a mere dollar just to keep stock up.
Culebra features ‘The Boardroom’: a conference room that can be rented out for events and is regularly used for vibrant weekend poker games. I sat with Robert and and enjoyed a wonderful Liga Privada T52 while discussing the some of the challenges in running a cigar shop in the state of California. 
Robert is very knowledgeable about the industry, and it was on his advice that I sampled the Liga that morning. They have a points-based loyalty program where points are awarded for purchases made. These are redeemed for cigars and other special offers that frequently pop up. In addition to this, they have monthly events for the local cigar community. I was very impressed with this new start up shop conveniently located just off the interstate and next to a gigantic mall. It would be a very good place indeed to seek refuge if the better half wanted to getting their shopping on.
